Let the Iron Begin!

Things have been really busy. Me and Tara wanted to begin working on our home after finishing the crafting premises a couple of days ago, but we got a little side-tracked with gathering stone so that I could build a furnace to smelt iron ore with.

"This is a work of beauty," I said to Tara. "This furnace is the first step to utilizing the iron ore that we've gathered."

"What are the next steps for us to finally get some decent weapons and armor?" Tara asked.

"Well, there's still lots to be done actually," I replied. "I'm gonna have to build some proper benches so that I can forge our equipment, and we're gonna need a lot of iron ore which means we got a lot of gathering to do."

"That's right, I forgot about the benches," Tara said. "I guess we'll just have to stick with the equipment we have for now."

Tara looked a little disappointed that we still had a lot of work to do before we could have any decent weapons and armor. I don't blame her though. Based on what's happened so far since we've been in this world and time, especially that last large hyena attack which nearly cost me my life, it seems like a very dangerous world out there, and the equipment we have right now is just not good enough.

I placed my hand on Tara's waist, "We're getting there, my love. We'll have some decent equipment soon enough."

Well, the furnace is complete, and I got some iron ore already smelting in it. I guess our next task is to continue gathering materials so that I can begin building the proper benches to forge proper equipment.
