After making some preparations and putting on my armor and equipping my shield and sword, I was ready to finally see what was inside that cave.
"Alright Tara, I'm ready to go inside the cave," I said. "I'm going in alone though."
"Am I not coming in with you?" she asked.
I looked towards the cave's entrance. "As you pointed out earlier today, it could be really dangerous in there, Tara. I don't want anything to happen to you."
I have to admit that I was kinda worried to go into the cave myself, but I really had to see if there was something in there that could help us or at least give us some answers.
"Well, I don't want anything to happen to you either, Ricky," she replied. "I'm coming in there with you!"
"Please, Tara," I said. "Just stay here for now."
"No!" she shouted.
"Look, if I see any kind of danger, I'll immediately come running out," I said to Tara. "I promise that I'll be fine."
Tara looked at me with a bit of anger in her eyes. "Fine! You can be so stubborn at times, Ricky."
"Thank you," I replied. "I promise that I'll be back soon."

I entered the cave and followed a path that led down to a pool of water. I looked across the pool of water and saw two pillars standing on a stone floor with torches beside each one. As I was getting ready to cross the water to get to the pillars, I heard a hissing noise and was immediately attacked by a large gator that came from the water.
The gator kept on biting at me while I was slashing at it with my sword. My shield proved to be quite valuable in blocking its attacks. The skirmish went on for a bit, but ultimately, I inflicted the final strike putting an end to the beast's life.
After slaying the gator, I again went to try and cross the pool of water to get to the pillars, but another gator emerged from the water. I raised my sword and held out my shield preparing for another battle. The fight was brief as I quickly put an end to the second gator's life as well.

So, that was two gator's defeated now. Once again, I went to try and cross the pool of water to get to the pillars, but this time I saw two more gators emerge from the water.
"How many of these fuckers are there!?" I said to myself.
Fighting one gator at a time was fine, but fighting two could have been a fatal mistake. I decided to retreat and get out of the cave. The gators followed me right up the path, but once I got out of the cave, they left me alone and went right back into the cave and down the path.

I returned to Tara and told her the whole story.
"So, that's why you're back so early," Tara teased. "Now, if only you would've let me come with you!"
"Yeah yeah yeah!" I said to Tara. "The cave can wait for now, but next time you can come with me."
Well, it sucks that I didn't get to explore too far into the cave. I'll have to try again another time, and next time I'll bring Tara with me. Those pillars and the stone floor have definitely further fueled my curiosity. What ever is on the other side of the pool of water was definitely made by people or something with intelligence.
